Starting this fall, scholars at Charles A. Tindley Accelerated School will be able to enroll in Indiana University courses being taught concurrently in their classrooms by Tindley faculty that have trained and received IU Adjunct Faculty status through Advance College Project (ACP). This is the first step in a partnership that will bring many of the IU undergraduate courses in the ACP catalogue to the school, where the model is to empower scholars “to become successful learners who graduate with the capacity for rigorous college opportunities.” Scholars will be able to gain both IU credits and the confidence of successfully completing courses that have the same syllabus, learning outcomes and rigor as the on-campus sections at IU.
The Advance College Project program is designed for high school juniors and seniors who desire more advanced academic work. ACP is not a gifted and talented program, but potential scholars should demonstrate a solid academic foundation and motivation to successfully earn college credits which is the essence of Tindley’s model.
As a prestigious research university respected throughout the country, IU is known for its quality education which applies to its ACP program as well. IU credits earned through the ACP program will build the student's IU transcript. These credits are accepted and transferable to many public and private universities.
Advance College Project (ACP) is a program of the Office of the Vice Provost for Undergraduate Education at Indiana University Bloomington. ACP is a nationally recognized dual-enrollment partnership between Indiana University and more than 1000 teachers in high schools throughout Indiana and surrounding states. IU courses taught through Advance College Project provide an opportunity for students to fulfill high school graduation requirements and accumulate college credits simultaneously.
This partnership will be advantageous for IU and the families of Tindley.
