Experiential Learning Travel Scholarship
The Experiential Learning Travel Scholarship helps offset travel costs for IUB undergraduate students participating in experiential learning activities, including presenting scholarly or creative work at conferences, completing course-based experiential learning, or engaging in other approved experiential learning opportunities.

Awards of up to $800 per academic year are based on the estimated travel budget, demonstrated financial need, and available funding. Because funds are limited, students are encouraged to seek support from their school, department, or other campus funding sources before applying.

Eligibility
All IUB undergraduates participating in experiential learning activities are eligible to apply. 

Application Materials
Applications must include:

• A detailed budget outlining all travel-related expenses, including lodging, meals, transportation, background checks, and registration fees.
• Documentation confirming participation in one of the following forms:
  • A faculty letter of support that addresses the educational value of the experience, the student's role, and the anticipated impact on their academic development.
  • For course-based activities, a course syllabus detailing required costs.

Selection Criteria
Applications are reviewed based on:

• Educational value and impact of the experience
• Connection to academic and professional goals
• Faculty support
• Reasonableness of the proposed budget
• Availability of funding

Priority is generally given to students who:

• Are presenting research, creative work, or scholarly projects at a conference
• Have limited access to other travel funding
• Have not previously received an Experiential Learning Travel Scholarship

Application Timeline

Applications are accepted throughout the academic year and are reviewed monthly. To ensure full consideration, apply at least 30 days before travel whenever possible. Students notified of an eligible opportunity fewer than 30 days before travel are still encouraged to apply.

Award decisions are typically sent within two weeks of each review date.

After Your Travel

Award recipients must submit a brief reflection within two weeks of completing their travel experience. Instructions will be included with the award notification.
