The following skills and experiences are desired:
- Strong organizational skills in order to lead campus-wide projects and create processes to carry out new initiatives.
- Experience overseeing full-time faculty and staff that work on projects/initiatives.
- Willingness to work collaboratively with others and among multiple constituents.
- Knowledge of the shared governance process for policy making and revisions.
- Strong writing skills to move forward campus-wide initiatives with clear objectives and processes.
- Understanding of how experiential learning practices influence student success in higher education.
Additional criteria:
- Experience with programs that support experiential learning opportunities such as undergraduate research, internships, service learning, or co-curricular opportunities.
- Ability to work with companies, governmental and non-profit agencies to create experiential learning opportunities for students.
- Willingness to work with multiple offices within the university to create, track, and communicate experiential learning opportunities.
Selection process
The title will be based on academic tenure and work experience of the candidate. Those seeking the Associate Vice Provost title would need to be tenured faculty. This search seeks candidates within and outside IU Bloomington. Candidates should provide a cover letter that highlights how they would meet the criteria specified and goals if they were in the position, as well as a C.V. and names of three references.
